CARVYKTI® (ciltacabtagene autoleucel) is a treatment used for adult patients who have cancer of the bone marrow called multiple myeloma. It is used when at least one other treatment has not worked or has stopped working. CARVYKTI® is a medicine made from your own white blood cells, which have been changed (genetically modified) to recognize and attack your multiple myeloma cells.

Planning for treatment

Your healthcare team will monitor you closely for 2 weeks after you receive CARVYKTI to watch for side effects.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Your doctor will need access to a vein to place the needle and catheter in your arm.
Bring a book, music, or something to do.
Leukapheresis can take 3 to 6 hours and may need to be repeated. The CARVYKTI infusion can take up to an hour. Consider activities during the monitoring period after infusion, too.

Being a care partner can be challenging. It's normal to feel nervous or overwhelmed about what is expected of you. And your role can evolve as the needs of the person you care for change. By supporting a friend or family member receiving CARVYKTI, you can have a positive impact on their journey during their CARVYKTI treatment.
Here are a few different ways you can help the person you care for:
Drive them to appointments.
After receiving CARVYKTI, the person you care for should not drive or operate heavy machinery for 2 weeks. They may need to be, or appreciate being, driven to appointments prior to their infusion as well.
Be an advocate.
Don’t hesitate to ask the CARVYKTI Activated Treatment Center staff any questions you or the person you care for have, and keep track of the answers for future reference.
Provide encouragement and support.
Treating multiple myeloma can be challenging. You can help them with some of their potential daily struggles like eating right or dealing with certain emotions.
Take notes during doctor visits.
The person you care for may be unable to fully understand or remember all that they hear during appointments. Having someone for support and to take notes can be very beneficial.
